The programme was organized with the objectives to:
- familiarize participants with SJPU and JJB proceedings.
- enhance the knowledge of Child Welfare Police Officers (CWPO) on child rights and rehabilitation
- sensitize the participants to psychosocial issues of children in conflict with law.
Participants :
33 Police Officers of 16 police stations of East Division, Bengaluru Urban and 2 Social Workers from NGOs attended the training.

Content :
The training session delved upon crucial aspects of the Juvenile Justice Act. They were briefed extensively on the procedural intricacies involved in Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) proceedings. Additionally, the training emphasized the identification and comprehension of psychosocial factors that significantly influence juvenile behavior, providing insights crucial for intervention strategies. Moreover, participants engaged in examining the socio-economic factors contributing to children’s involvement in criminal activities, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of the root causes behind juvenile delinquency. Furthermore, the training included an exploration of child rights and the array of rehabilitation programs offered by ECHO, equipping participants with comprehensive knowledge to support the holistic development and well-being of juveniles within the justice system.
