ECHO Special Home

State Special Home for juveniles in Summanahalli, Bangalore
This center is for children who are in conflict with the law, under the orders of the Juvenile Justice Board. ECHO is the first voluntary organization in India which runs the state special home for juveniles. ECHO Special Home focuses on the overall development of the child. The juveniles are engaged in various educational, vocational and agricultural activities. The children get individual care and attention which helps them transform into better human beings. In the previous academic year seven children attended the KOS SSLC Examination

Since 2011, ECHO has been entrusted with managing the Karnataka Government Special Home for Boys, distinguishing it as the only Special Home in the country managed by NGO. With a core focus on reforming and reintegrating Children in Conflict with Law (CCL) into society, this center embodies the principles outlined in the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection Act of 2000. ECHO’s child-friendly reformation and rehabilitation model has been pivotal in the establishment and operation of this model Special Home. Through a structured regimen including individual and family counseling, diverse activities, formal education, vocational training and exposure to various life skills such as farming and administration, ECHO ensures comprehensive development and empowerment of its residents. In December 2023, with the support of the BOSCH CSR, the Special Home has been remodeled and upgraded with a training hall, guest house and sale counter. The success of this approach is evident and is crucial in nurturing these children back into society with dignity
