ECHO Special Home: Reforming Lives, Restoring Futures

ECHO is proud to be the first voluntary organization in India to manage a State Special Home for juveniles—a groundbreaking initiative under the orders of the Juvenile Justice Board. Since 2011, ECHO has been entrusted with managing the Karnataka Government Special Home for Boys, making it the only NGO-run Special Home in the country.

This center is dedicated to children in conflict with the law, focusing on their complete rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Rooted in the principles of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2000, ECHO’s child-friendly model emphasizes individual care, education, vocational training, and personal development.

Children here participate in a structured routine that includes:

  • Formal education (with seven students appearing for the KOS SSLC examination last year)

  • Vocational and agricultural training

  • Individual and family counseling

  • Life skills exposure in areas like farming and administration

This holistic approach helps each child transform into a confident and responsible member of society.

In December 2023, with the support of BOSCH CSR, the Special Home was remodeled and upgraded, featuring a new training hall, guest house, and sale counter—enhancing both infrastructure and impact.

ECHO’s Special Home isn’t just a center; it’s a model for change, a place where young lives are guided back to society with dignity, purpose, and hope.
