SJPU Training for Banaswadi Traffic Police Officers

ECHO Center for Juvenile Justice, in collaboration with Karnataka State Police, conducted a training session on the Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) and the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) 2000 for the Traffic Police Officers of Banaswadi Traffic Police Station. The training aimed to spread awareness about Juvenile Justice Act and Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) and to create a child friendly environment while handling cases. It provided a comprehensive understanding of child rights, covering the evolution of the Juvenile Justice Acts and emphasizing the roles and duties of Child Welfare Police Officers (CWPOs), procedures for preliminary inquiries, documentation and diversion, as well as fostering a child-friendly approach in handling juvenile cases. A total of 34 Traffic Police Officers participated in the training.
