A team of representatives from the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with UNICEF, visited the Remodelled ECHO Special Home in Summanahalli, Bengaluru. The purpose of the visit was to understand innovative rehabilitation practices of ECHO and explore ways to bring similar transformative changes to the juvenile justice framework in Uttar Pradesh.
The program included an introduction to ECHO’s mission and key initiatives, followed by a documentary highlighting the impactful work of ECHO Center and the journey of Special Home. A significant part of the visit was the interaction with the inmates. The delegates learned about the routines, stories and experiences of inmates during their stay at Special Home. The visit also featured a tour around Remodelled Special Home, where the delegates observed various facilities provided to children for their successful rehabilitation. Additionally, the team witnessed the CSR initiative supported by BOSCH, that led to sustainable surroundings contributing to conducive environment for Children in Conflict with Law. Impressed by the holistic approach, the delegates expressed admiration for ECHO’s work and discussed possibilities for future collaboration to enhance juvenile justice and rehabilitation efforts in Uttar Pradesh.
